You can reach Coorg from anywhere in India by air, road and rail. But whoever mode of travel you choose, the last leg of your journey has to be completed by road. Coorg does not have an airport and neither does it have a railway station. The closest airport to reach Coorg is Mangalore, which is about 160 km from Coorg, followed by Bengaluru Airport which is around 260 km away. While the airport at Mangalore is closer but more convenient flight connections are available to Bangalore. Direct flights to Bangalore are available from all major Indian airports, on multiple airlines. Once you are alright at either of the airports, you can take a taxi or a bus to reach Coorg. There are no train services to Coorg. Mysore Railway Station, located around 120km away is the closest railway station to Coorg. Mysore is connected to many other cities by train. If you decide to travel by bus, you can travel to Coorg by overnight bus from Bangalore and Mysore. From Bangalore bus will take around 6 Hrs. You can also take a cab to Coorg and enjoy the scenic hill journey.

However, the temperature does not rise above 35°C irrespective of summers and winters. Also, there is no drastic fall in the temperature below 10°C. The river is part of the early reaches of the river Kaveri. Flow is much higher during the monsoon season. The waterfall is located between private coffee plantation with stocky coffee bushes and spice estates with trees entwined with pepper vines. Ahanging bridge constructed just opposite the falls.The falls was earlier called Jessi falls, named after a British officer's wife. However, the place was a thick jungle area back then. Years later, the waterfall was discovered by Mr. Neravanda B.Nanaiah who bought the place from the government and converted it into a coffee and spices plantation that surrounds the waterfall today.
Talakaveri is the place that is generally considered to be the source of the river Kaveri. It is located by Brahmagiri hill near Bhagamandala 1,276 m. above sea level. However, there is not a permanent visible flow from this place to the main rivercourse except during the Monsson. It is also marked by a small temple, and the area is frequented by pilgrims mainly it is the worship place of kodavas. The river originates as a spring feeding this tank, which is considered to be a holy place to bathe on special days. The waters are then said to flow underground to emerge as the Kaveri river some distance away.
Bhagamandala is on the foothills of Talcauvery and is 39 km from Madikeri. Bhagamandala is the confluence of the sacred rivers of Cauvery and Kannike and legend has it that a third river Sujyothi, a subterranean stream, joins the two rivers. The Bhagandeshwara temple is located on the banks of the two rivers and is one of the important pilgrimage centers in Coorg. Pilgrims proceed to Talcauvery only after offering worship at Bhagamandala. It is customary for the Coorg men to shave their head at Bhagamandala in the event of a bereavement in the family. Bhagamandala is also famous for honey and its apiaries.
It is also called Mercara Fort was first founded by Mudduraja in the second half of the 17th century. He also built a palace inside the fort. It was eventually rebuilt and restructured in granite by Tippu Sultan who named the site as Jaffarabad. Mercara Fort is among the many forts, build or rebuild by Tipu Sultan. In 1790,Dodda Deva took control of the fort. The British who added to the fort in 1834. The palace was renovated by Linga Rajendra II in 1812-1814. In the north-east corner at the entrance are two life size masonry elephants and a church is present in the south-east corner. The museum displays weaponry used during the era of Tippu . On display are various artifacts that could give you an insight into what elapsed during the time of Muddu Raja and Tippu Sultan.
(Seat of the King) is a seasonal garden of flowers and artificial fountains. It is one of the most important tourist spots in Madikeri of Coorg District. It is 270 km away from Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka. A pleasant spectacle of refreshing layers of greenery, chain of high and low-rise-mountains attired with mist, the Raja Garden was a one-time-favorite of the kings of Kodagu who used to watch the setting sun, and spend time with their queens here. This camp has plenty of elephants which are trained under naturalists. A trained Naturalist is at hand to explain the various aspects of Elephant history, ecology and biology. The visitor can not only observe and learn but also participate in various activities involving Elephants. The Karnataka Forest Department has about 150 Elephants in various camps and Dubare has been historically an important camp. The Elephants for the famous Mysore Dasara were trained at Dubare elephant camp. But presently after logging operations have ceased, the Forest Department does not really know what to do with all its elephants! They (elephants) have been practically retired except for giving some rides to odd tourists. Guests would leave our camp feeling enriched and enlightened about Elephants and hopefully they would become sensitive to their plight in the wild and join the lobby to save them from extinction.

A few minutes drive from the Nisargadhama falls lies the Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement, which is the region of ‘ lugsum Samdupling’ and ‘ Dichyi larsoe’. It was established in 1961 and 1969 by refugee settlements in the Kogadu region.It is Known as one of the largest Tibetan Settlement in India, it is home to more than 16000 refugees and has temples and monasteries located therein. The settlement is managed by seven thousand of monks and nuns. One can simply hear the enchanting sounds of the prayers and chants which add to the environment of this region.
It is located in the Bhramagiri Range in the Kodagu district of Karnataka bordering the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is a fresh water cascade and is situated at a distance of 48 km from Virajpet on the highway to Nagarhole.The Falls are also known as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, derived from the name of the tributary of Cauvery which starts from these falls, the Lakshmana Thirtha River.
